Can I refill just 1–3 bottles on the TapRack (not all four)?Updated 24 days ago
Yes — you can refill just 1–3 bottles on the Ignik TapRack. You do not have to refill all four at the same time.
That said, for the safest and smoothest refill experience, follow these best practices:
BEST PRACTICES
Refill only EMPTY bottles, or
Refill bottles that are at the SAME fill level (all similarly empty)
This helps the refill go faster and avoids confusing “pressure changes” when bottles with different fill levels are connected together.
IMPORTANT: What can happen if fill levels are different
When you connect bottles that have different amounts of fuel to the TapRack, propane vapor/pressure can redistribute between the connected bottles. This can make it seem like fuel is moving around, even before you refill.
If bottles start at different fill levels, the refill can be uneven across bottles and may require the refiller to confirm each bottle stays within the labeled maximum fill (by weight, and bleeding individually). Do not exceed 15.5 oz per bottle.
Because of that, we recommend:
Don’t attach a full bottle to the TapRack just to “carry it” if you’re not refilling, and
Avoid mixing full and empty bottles unless you understand that pressure may equalize across all connected bottles, and fill levels will be different across each bottle.
AT THE REFILL STATION
A propane refiller can fill the TapRack through the main valve and confirm the fill by weight and/or the system’s bleeder/fill indicators. If you’re only refilling 1–3 bottles, the attendant should still fill to the labeled limits for the number of bottles connected.
QUICK TIP
If you’re unsure whether your bottles are at similar fill levels, the simplest approach is to use up your bottles until they’re empty, then refill them together.
