Where can I refill the TapRack (U-Haul, gas station, propane dealer)?Updated 23 days ago
You can refill the Ignik TapRack at many professional propane refill location that dispenses bulk propane (the kind of place that refills BBQ tanks and RV tanks). The TapRack is designed so a trained attendant can fill all connected bottles through the TapRack’s main valve (by weight), similar to how they fill larger propane cylinders.
Best places to try first
Availability varies by location, so it’s worth calling ahead. Common places that offer propane refills include:
U-Haul propane refill locations (many stores refill propane tanks on site)
Local propane dealers / propane suppliers
Hardware and farm stores that offer propane refills
Some RV parks, marinas, and campgrounds that have bulk propane
What to avoid (common confusion)
Propane exchange cages (swap programs) are not refilling services.
If a location says they “only exchange,” you’ll need a different location that does propane refills.
How to find a refill station near you
Try these search link or your own search on Google, Apple Maps, or Bing:
propane refill near me
propane tank refill
bulk propane refill
RV propane refill
U-Haul propane refill
Call ahead (strongly recommended)
Because TapRack is new, some locations may say “no” simply because they haven’t seen it before. A quick call saves time.
Ask:
“Do you do propane refills (not exchanges)?”
“Can you refill customer-owned propane cylinders by weight?”
“Do you have someone on site today who can do refills?”
What to bring / what to tell the attendant
Bring the TapRack upright with the bottles attached (if possible), and use this simple script:
“This is a refillable propane system. Please fill through the TapRack main valve and fill to the labeled limits.”
Important compatibility note
The TapRack is not for single-use disposable green bottles, and it is not compatible with Flame King or Fuel Keg bottles.
